OPEC+ decision on oil production growth gets support from Rosneft CEO

In his keynote address at the Energy Panel of the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Sechin noted that the announced increase in production from May this year is three times higher than the alliance's initial plan. In addition, the entire OPEC+ production growth could be moved forward by a year ahead of schedule.
"The decision made by OPEC leaders to accelerate production growth now appears to be quite forward-looking and, from a market perspective, justified, considering consumer interests amid the uncertainty surrounding the scale of the Iran-Israel conflict," said the company’s head.
At the same time, Igor Sechin, the CEO of Rosneft Oil Company, pointed out that “despite the declared production growth, there can be no talk of a long-term oil surplus on the market,” since “global oil reserves are currently at their lowest levels in the past five year.
"Low oil prices suit U.S. consumers, where the inflation-adjusted gasoline price has already returned to 2019 levels. It is no coincidence that this is happening against the backdrop of the White House's increased Middle East activity and the signing of a number of agreements with key countries in the region," the CEO of Rosneft Oil Company added.

This year the legendary musician, Russian pianist Denis Matsuev presented a program of classical and jazz masterpieces dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous Russian saxophonist and composer Georgy Garanyan. The audience heard compositions by Garanyan himself, as well as famous works by other authors arranged by the world's favorite composer. One of the most outstanding pianists of our time performed compositions of various genres, once again demonstrating his unique talent, filling the melodies beloved by all with fresh energy of sound. Countdown Begins for the First Eurasian Congress of Linguists in Moscow

On December 9, 2024, the grand opening of the First Eurasian Congress of Linguists will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the President Hotel (24 Bolshaya Yakimanka Street, Moscow). This major international academic event will bring together over 500 scientists from more than 40 countries.

Organized on the initiative of the Institute of Linguistics RAS with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Congress is one in a series of academic activities to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The organizing Committee is chaired by Gennady Krasnikov, President of the RAS, and Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The Congress will highlight key areas in modern linguistics and the contributions of leading international research schools. The agenda includes plenary presentations, roundtable discussions, and poster sessions on topics such as:
- the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032): can endangered languages be saved? Mid-term results from russian and international linguists;
- strengthening academic collaboration in today’s global landscape;
- the Russian Academy of Sciences: 300 years of history and contemporary challenges;
- artificial intelligence in mass media: friend or foe?
- the deaf community’s culture and Russian Sign Language;

Juha Janhunen, one of the foremost experts on Eurasian languages (Helsinki, Finland).

The Congress will be held in person, with English and Russian as the working languages (simultaneous interpretation will be provided). Plenary sessions on the first and last days of the congress will also be translated into Russian Sign Language and/or International Sign Language.
