Introduction:

Roopkund lake is a mystery to be solved at the base of Trisul and Nanda Ghunti mountain in the Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. The Roopkund lake trek is spectacular and pretty challenging. It's usually not recommended for the first time. However, some fit first-timers have managed it in the past. Most people now visit Roopkund to take on the challenge of going up to 16,500 feet (higher than Leh) and seeing the Himalayan giants like Nanda Devi Nanda Ghunti and Trisul.

Top sights in Roopkund 

  1. Trisul (Mountain Peak)

A group of three Himalayan mountain peaks  with the highest reaching 7120 metres. The three peaks resemble a Trident in Sanskrit Trisul, which is the weapon of Shiva. Nanda Devi is enclosed by the ring of peaks formed by the Trisul group. The three peaks are named Trisul 1, Trisul 2 and Trisul 3.


  1. Roopkund  lake (Natural rock climbing )

 Roopkund is also called a skeleton and mystery lake located at the high altitude glacier lake. The human skeleton in the water is fact and visible when the w melts. The stunning view of Roopkund glacier, Trisul, Nanda Ghunti and Choukchamba peaks are missed. 


  1. Brahma Tal Trek (Tourist Attraction) 

Devoted to Lord Brahma, one among the hidden gems. The track comprises to witness two alpine lakes. The magnificent lake stand with mount Trisul and mount Nanda towering in the skyline. Beside it is another astonishing lake Bekaltal amidst the snowy meadows. The Rhododendron trees add a lot of beauty with shades of Crimson and pink wines blooming.

  1. Junar Gali 

Junar Gali is a next-door view to mount Trisul. Junar gala is a 45-minute walk fare from Roopkund. Junar Gali is located in Chamoli, Uttarakhand the highest peak of all. But the view from this doesn’t disappoint the parallel view of Roopkund and mount Trisul, the three submitted mountains. 


  1. Nanda Ghunti (Mountain Peak )

The Veil of goddess Nanda Devi is a peak in the  Garhwal range lying in the Nanda Devi National Park. The best travel time to this mountain peak is June and September to early October. 


  1. Brahma Tal (Tourist attraction) 

Brahmatal transforms the winter into a blanket of snow it’s the trail as the snake through a deep forest. At the highest Brahmatal track top, a new set of mountains opens mountain Neelkanth and mountain Hathi Goda while Trisul and Nanda Ghunti are at the right. Most accessible in peak winters from January to February. 

  1. Bekaltal (Hiking area)

Lohajung tour Bekaltal is  6 kilometres at regular speed it would take 4 to 5 hours normally. En route to Bekaltal halt around a waterfall. Rain usually starts in the afternoon in mountains. Enjoy your time at the serene lake, Bekaltal surrounded by thick oak trees.

  1. Maiktoli ( Hiking area)

Maiktoli Glacier is on the West of a Pindaric glacier in the kuwanon Himalayas. Trek long for 5 kilometres and savour the view of Mrigthuni glacier situated on the western side. Maiktoli glacier is an important source of the Sundardhunga river. The Best time to give a visit is April to June and September to November. 


  1. Mrigthuni (Mountain Peak )

A mountain in Kumaon HIMALAYA Uttarakhand. It joins the 28th highest located entirely within Uttarakhand. The name means deer navel as it is neither the highest nor the lowest beach in the Garhwal region. 

  1. Ronti Saddle( Nature Reserve)

A Saddle, the Himalayan peaks of Nanda Ghunti and  Trisul are closer to the Nanda Devi. The trek to Ronti saddles approaches from the more popular Roopkund side. The best time to give a visit is May to June and September to November. 


  1. Bendi Kund(Lake)

Neelkanth or blue neck, blue throat one metaphor for Hindu God Shiva, Bendi Bugyal provides this beauty of 21,640 feet bathed in a golden sheet of sunlight. Bendi Kund is the site where the goddess annihilated Mahishasura. It serves as a Pilgrim place. The Pilgrim carries a palanquin of Mahanada from Bendi Kund to Roopkund during the Nanda Devi Raj Jat which happens once in 12 years. Gives  time to visit is from May to November. 

  1. Bagaji Bugyal (Tour attraction)

The meadows of tigers, used to freely roam along their meadows. Unfortunately, lately, the tiger disappeared. The track offers a 360-degree view of all neighbouring peaks. Bagaji Bugyal is a 45 minutes claim there aren't water sources on the trail so make sure to have your water Bottles. 


  1. Ronti (Climbing)

Ronti is a relatively new track that has not been on many trekkers' radars. Ronti is a mountain in the Garhwal Himalayas. The track offers a view of dense forest, Alpine meadows Nanda Ghunti Trisul 1,2,3 peaks. It is the 164th highest located within Uttarakhand.
